Steven L.Tarver Sr. is an original member of the Rise Community Market Steering Committee and now serves as Marketing Committee Chair on the Board of Directors. He is the Co-founder and President of Men of Power Women of Strength Inc. which has advocated in Cairo, IL since 2017. After serving in the US Army, he went on to earn Associate Degrees in Management and Marketing from Midlands Technical College and a Computer Administrative Specialist Certification from Centura College both located in Columbia, SC. Mr. Tarver grew up in Cairo, left at the age of 12, and has returned with a vision to help his hometown community. He has actively advocated for the youth and the community since his return in 2012. He is also a Board member of Cairo School District 1, the Cairo Housing Task Force, Southern Illinois food Access Regional Advisory Committee, Tri-County Youth Recreation Program, and Chair of the Alexander Residential Advisory Council. “I am truly excited about the opening of Rise Community Market and the spark it has had on the restoration of our beloved City”, he can be heard saying along with his favorite slogan “Stay in the Fight”.
