Carol Childress is a native of Cairo, a wife, mother of three, and a graduate of the class of 1985. She continued her education by becoming a Certified Nurse’s Aide and then entered private care, where she discovered her passion for caring and helping others in the community for over 30 years. She currently serves as the Assistant Membership Chair of the PTO, is a member of the Sumner/Cairo High School Committee, and an Alexander County election judge. While continuing her private care, she also volunteers at the Happy Days Senior Citizens Center. Inspired by her dedication to helping others and her daughter, the late Charisse Matthews, Carol joined the Alexander/Pulaski County Branch of the NAACP and is now an active Silver Life Member. She received an award from Rise Community Market for her determination and dedication to enhancing the community and was awarded first place by the Cairo Historical Preservation Project for the “Home is Where the Heart Is” contest. Carol enjoys spending time with the elderly, helping children, volunteering in the community when needed, and is a current member of the Seventh Day Assembly of Israel in Cairo, Illinois.
